Part of the industrial area cordoned off due to ongoing incidents

Roads in the Linwood industrial area were closed due to the discovery of an explosive weapon.

Police and the Scottish Ambulance Service were called to Burnbrae Drive shortly after 9am this morning.

A local business was evacuated.

This happened after a device – presumably an old explosive device – was found.

Where exactly it was found was not disclosed.

A Police Scottish spokesman said: “On Tuesday 24 September 2024, at around 9.05am, police were called after an explosive device – suspected to be an old explosive device – was found in Burnbrae Dr, Linwood.

“As a precautionary measure, the area has been cordoned off and a local business has been evacuated. The EOD (Explosive Ordnance Department) has been notified. Emergency personnel remain on site.

“Local roads in the area have been closed.”
