Murder prosecutor in court after fatal house fire

A second man has appeared in court charged with murder in connection with a fatal house fire.

Daniel Tatters, of Basford, Stoke-on-Trent, appeared via videolink at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Tuesday charged with murder, four counts of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

He was charged following the death of Akashdeep Singh in a fire at a house in Plascom Road, East Park, Wolverhampton, on June 25.

Mr Singh's brother suffered a fractured vertebra when he fell from an upstairs window during the fire. The couple's mother is currently in the hospital's intensive care unit.

Two other family members were also injured in the incident.

Tatters, wearing a gray sweater and blue jeans, confirmed only his name and date of birth during the 15-minute court hearing.

The 25-year-old was remanded in custody and will appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on October 11 along with his co-defendant Dale Francis (36) of Clarke Street in Stoke-on-Trent.
