The Hanover County Sheriff's Office is investigating a brawl that broke out in Kings Dominion over the weekend that involved more than 300 youths.

According to the sheriff's office, the fight occurred around 9 p.m. Saturday in the Candy Apple Grove area of the park.

Kings Dominion says the incident, described as a “minor physical altercation,” was quickly ended by the security team, with officers and patrol officers removing the group from the park within two hours.

“You can't blame anyone, it's the mentality of these young people, and some of them are adults,” said Sergeant Steve Wills. “That's why we need parents to intervene. We need people to teach their children how to behave appropriately in public.”

The park issued the following statement:

On Saturday, September 21, rides and outdoor attractions at the park were temporarily closed due to inclement weather. A minor physical altercation occurred between some youths seeking refuge in the Candy Apple Grove area of the park. However, this was quickly broken up by the security team and those involved were subsequently removed from the park. Normal operations resumed after the weather cleared.
