NYT “Connections” September 24: Clues and answers for game #471

Are you on a Connections winning streak? Or maybe you are new to the game? Regardless, Newsweek has some helpful tips for you to solve Tuesday's puzzle.

The puzzle was created by The New York Times in 2023 and has since become the newspaper’s second most played game, behind Wordleanother word puzzle.

In an interview with Newsweek in June, Connections Developers and NYT Crossword editor Wyna Liu shared that each Connections The board “needs to be rebuilt from scratch.”

“I usually don't know where a board is going to go,” she said. “It takes a really long time to fake things and try different angles.”

The answers for Tuesday Connections The mystery will be revealed at the end of this article, so please scroll carefully if you don't want to see spoilers.

How to play “Connections”

It doesn't take long to learn the rules of the game. At the beginning, players are given a table with 16 words. These words must be divided into four groups of four based on a common theme.

These categories are linked to different levels of difficulty. Yellow is the easiest and purple is the most difficult category. The green and blue categories have a medium level of difficulty.

For example, in Monday's puzzle, one of the categories was “Not smooth, like terrain,” and the words associated with that category were “bumpy,” “rough,” “rugged,” and “uneven.” This was a yellow category.

If the answers are correct, the words will flash their category color and be removed from the board. However, if they are incorrect, they will turn gray and remain on the board. Players have four chances to make a mistake before the answers are revealed. There is no time limit to the game.
