Jury trial of Columbia man accused of murder to begin Tuesday

BOONE COUNTY, Missouri (KMIZ)

Corey Blueitt, 44, is scheduled to appear before a jury at 9 a.m. on Sept. 24 for the alleged shooting and killing of 34-year-old Aaron Badolato in December 2022 in the 2000 block of Newtown Drive in north Columbia.

Blueitt was indicted by a grand jury in December 2022.

According to court documents and previous reports, several witnesses said they saw Blueitt holding a gun and pointing it at several people.

According to a probable cause statement, a witness who said Blueitt was her ex-boyfriend saw Blueitt get back into his vehicle after Badolato was shot.

The woman said Blueitt would come back and kill one of the other witnesses and threatened to “blow up the whole block,” according to the statement. According to police, she said Blueitt showed up at the apartment several times and threatened one of the witnesses. One of the witnesses was allegedly waiting for Badoloto to arrive.

She also told police that she heard one of the witnesses screaming “help” and “you shot him.”

When officers arrived at the scene that evening, they found Badolato in the front yard with gunshot wounds. Badolato later died in the hospital.

Boone County Judge Jeff Harris will preside over the case.
