Van driver sought after fatal hit-and-run accident in North Las Vegas

Authorities are searching for the driver of a box truck involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in North Las Vegas on Monday.

The collision was reported around 9:13 p.m. in the area of ​​Civic Center Drive and Webb Avenue, near Owens Avenue, North Las Vegas police said in a news release.

Officers found a woman with serious injuries who had apparently been hit by a car. Medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.

According to police, investigators determined that a “white work truck” was traveling north toward the Civic Center when it left the road, jumped the curb of the east sidewalk and struck the woman.

The truck continued north on Civic Center and had another crash a few minutes later at Tonopah Avenue and Arthur Street. Police said no one was injured in the second crash.

Witnesses described the truck driver as an adult male of Latino descent and traffic investigators believe that driver impairment played a role.
