“Octomom” Natalie Suleman, mother of 14, welcomes her first grandchild | US News

Natalie (formerly Nadya) Suleman – the so-called “Octomom” – has added another young member to her already impressively large family. The 14-year-old mother announced on Instagram on Sunday that she is now a grandmother to a little girl.

Suleman, 49, accompanied the announcement with a photo of an infant's tiny foot behind a pink baby blanket.

“Thank you my son and my dear daughter-in-law for giving us this beautiful gift!” wrote the mother, who made international headlines in 2009 with the birth of the first surviving octuplets. “We are so happy that she is a new member of the family! Little girl, you are so loved and we can't wait to see you grow up!! 8/30/24 🙏🏽❤️,” Suleman added, apparently referring to the little newborn's date of birth.

Octomom became pregnant with her octuplets through artificial insemination. She gave birth to the children by Caesarean section.

The octuplets, six boys and two girls, were given the biblical names Noah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Nariyah, Jonah, Makai, Josiah and Jeremiah. Suleman was already the mother of six children before the octuplets came: Amerah, Calyssa, Elijah, Caleb, Joshua and Aidan.

The new grandmother did not reveal which of her ten sons was the father of the little girl.

Suleman has kept a low profile for the past decade, aside from occasional television appearances. However, she remains active on social media on Instagram, giving her fans glimpses into the life of a mother raising 14 children.

Last January, Suleman celebrated the 15th anniversary of the birth of her octuplets with an Instagram post in which she wished all eight children a happy birthday and shared an old photo of them as babies in front of a birthday cake.

The caption read: “I am so proud of the young adults you are growing up to be! Stay true to yourself, humble, kind and honest. I am so grateful for your love and overjoyed to have you in my life. I love you ❤️”
