JoJo Siwa's crystal-encrusted ab corset made her a worldwide meme

If I'm being honest, the fact that I've thought about JoJo Siwa more than once this year wasn't on my 2024 bingo card, but here we are… again.

Those of you whose weekly screen time notification seems to read “increased” rather than “decreased” probably already know which picture and outfit I’m referring to when I say JoJo Siwa has once again become a meme.

If you are not familiar with the drama in the social media sphere, then let me give you an unqualified lesson on the subject.

Yesterday, the 21-year-old singer and former Dancing mothers Star revealed that she is the face of the September cover of LADYGUNN magazine. While it's not uncommon for a celebrity to be featured on a magazine cover, it was JoJo's crystal-encrusted ensemble that sparked debate.

Posing in a stone-encrusted breastplate that looks like a muscular male body and a matching jockstrap that looks like You know whatJoJo dominated the camera and showed off her biceps in the style of a Greek god.

The crystal creation was designed by New York designer Kyle Farmery, also known as “The King of Bling”.

As with any Instagram post, there was a lot to say about Jojo and her ensemble on social media. One comment, which now has over 12,000 likes, reads: “No hate, I'm honestly just confused.”

This year, JoJo Siwa has made it clear that she is tired of being in the child star spotlight and has turned her former dance and Nickelodeon career into a pop artist. In early April this year, JoJo released her song karmawhich, much like the recent cover shoot, caused a stir online, as the music video (which now has 49 million views on YouTube) shows the singer in a variety of embellished catsuits, choreographing a dance on a moonlit beach.

Not long after karma fell, she posted a video of herself dancing to her song on TikTok in an orange safety vest Guiltywhich soon became a global meme.

Whether you like JoJo's current ensemble or not, she would undoubtedly rank the extravagant, multi-colored, diamond-encrusted crown as one of her most talked about outfits. Without a doubt.
