NEW YORK – Rep. Anthony D'Esposito is under fire following a report in the New York Times.

According to The Times, the Nassau County congressman is said to have given part-time jobs to both his fiancée's daughter and one of his partners in 2023.

According to the report, shortly after his election, D'Esposito gave his fiancée's daughter a job as a special assistant in his district office that eventually paid her $3,800 a month. He also allegedly hired a woman he was having an affair with to do a part-time job paying $2,000 a month.

“The latest political tabloid garbage being peddled by the New York Times is nothing more than a slimy, partisan 'smear piece' designed to distract Long Islanders from the Democrats' poor record on border security, the economy and foreign policy. My personal life has never interfered with my ability to deliver results for New York's 4th District, and I have upheld the highest ethical standards of personal conduct. Voters deserve better than the gutter politics of the Times,” D'Esposito said in a statement.

Last year D'Esposito voted for expulsion from Congress then-Representative George Santos, another Republican from Long Island, after numerous scandals, a scathing report by the House Ethics Committee, and federal charges.
