Fall River man convicted of Valentine's Day 2018 murder

FALL RIVER, Massachusetts (WLNE) – Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced today that a 25-year-old Fall River man was found guilty yesterday by a jury of peers of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of 24-year-old Maurice Timberlake on Valentine's Day 2018.

Keishon Workman was found guilty of first-degree murder and illegally carrying a firearm after a two-week trial in Fall River Superior Court.

Workman was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years.

According to a press release, this was the maximum sentence allowed by law because the defendant was 19 years old at the time of the murder.

According to the indictment, on February 14, 2018, the defendant stalked and ambushed the victim at the corner of South Main Street and Morgan Street in Fall River.

The victim was then shot seven times at close range during the shootout in broad daylight.

“This was a premeditated and brutal murder in broad daylight on a city street. The victim was shot seven times and the lives and safety of other innocent people were endangered by the defendant's actions. As stated in the post-sentencing victim impact statements, this senseless murder has turned the lives of the victim's family, who loved him very much, upside down,” District Attorney Quinn said in a statement.

“I thank them for their patience over the last six years as they waited for the opportunity to have the defendant held accountable by the jury. I hope the verdict provides some comfort to the victim's family. I want to thank the prosecution for their efforts in presenting a strong case and the jury for their dedication during the two-week trial,” he continued.
