13-year-old arrested in connection with threat against Waterbury public schools – NBC Connecticut

A 13-year-old was arrested in connection with a threat against Waterbury Public Schools.

Late Monday evening, officials became aware of a threatening social media post that mentioned several of the city's public schools.

During the investigation, the police concluded that the threat was not credible.

According to investigators, authorities identified a 13-year-old boy who is believed to be behind the post.

He was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and making threats.

“All threats against our schools are taken extremely seriously and thorough investigations are conducted to ensure the safety of students, staff and the community,” Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo said Tuesday.

Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity or threats to the police immediately.

“The safety of our community is our top priority and we will hold those responsible accountable,” Spagnolo added.
