Investigation underway into cyclist involved in accident in North Lincoln

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – Lincoln police are investigating a crash that left a bicyclist injured Monday.

Shortly before 7:10 p.m., officers responded to an accident at the intersection of North 20th Street and Superior Street

A 28-year-old Lincoln man was driving westbound on Superior Street while the light was green for eastbound and westbound traffic when he struck a 26-year-old Bellevue man who was riding a bicycle. Police said the cyclist was struck as he was crossing Superior Street.

The police assume that the driver's view was obstructed by another vehicle and he did not see the cyclist.

The cyclist was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
