Speed ​​​​control in East Haven leads to major drug raid

EAST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) – A driver stopped by police for speeding in East Haven was faced with a number of drug charges.

Police identified the driver as Lebron Jimmy Stevenson, 18, of Hamden.

They said an officer on Monday noticed the driver of a black Acura traveling south at a high rate of speed on Laurel Street near View Terrace.

The officer said he saw the driver speed through an intersection without stopping and then drive down Eldred Drive, a dead-end street.

According to police, the officer initiated the traffic stop in a dead-end street.

The officer said he discovered several clear bags in the vehicle that were clearly visible.

Police later discovered that they contained crack cocaine and fentanyl packaged for sale.

They said they found the following:

  • 72 bags, each containing 34 grams of crack cocaine.
  • 11 bags with 18 grams of cocaine each.
  • 180 bags, each containing 61 grams of fentanyl.
  • $661.00 cash.

Stevenson was arrested and charged with failure to obey a stop sign, improper use of a license plate, operating a motor vehicle without a license, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, and three counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

Police said he was released on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on October 2.
