Accident leads to closure of I-95 NB at the Girard Point Bridge in Philadelphia – NBC10 Philadelphia

A section of northbound I-95 was closed at the Girard Point Bridge in Philadelphia due to a police investigation and an accident, officials said.

SkyForce10 footage from late Tuesday morning showed at least two damaged vehicles on the lower level of the bridge, as well as a state police vehicle and several investigators.

According to the Emergency Management Agency, northbound I-95 was closed between exits 13 and 17 due to the response to an accident.

Pennsylvania State Police also told NBC10 they were investigating a “possible shooting” on the bridge, but did not provide further details.

Authorities have not yet announced whether anyone was seriously injured. The roads were reopened early Tuesday afternoon.

The Girard Point Bridge is a double-deck bridge located near Philadelphia International Airport and the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. SkyForce10 showed significant congestion on I-95 northbound during the closure.
