Son of man responsible for Trump’s second assassination attempt allegedly in possession of child pornography – 102.3 KRMG

The son of the man who allegedly lay in wait outside a Florida golf course with the apparent intent of shooting former President Donald Trump is facing charges in federal court for possessing images of child sexual abuse.

Oran Routh, Ryan Routh's son, was arrested this week when officials searched his home in Greensboro, North Carolina, The Associated Press reported.

The search was carried out “in connection with an investigation unrelated to child abuse,” the FBI said in a court document. It took place on September 21, CNN reported.

Fox News reported that the search was related to the investigation into Ryan Routh.

Investigators said they found hundreds of files depicting child sexual abuse on an SD card from one of the younger Routh's devices.

The files contained videos “from a known child pornography series created outside the state of North Carolina,” Fox News reported. A second device is also said to contain child pornography.

Oran Routh has now been charged in North Carolina with possession and receipt of child sexual abuse material.

His father, Ryan Routh, has been charged with gun violations in connection with the alleged assassination attempt on Trump. Prosecutors said Ryan Routh set up a “sniper's nest” at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. He had his golf course a few holes away from where the former president played, but Ryan Routh's gun was noticed by a Secret Service agent who shot at him, CNN reported. Ryan Routh then fled and was later caught.

According to AP, further charges are expected to be brought against the elder Routh.
