Diddy and Sam Bankman-Fried housed in same Brooklyn prison complex – NBC New York

Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was arrested last week on sex trafficking and organized crime charges, will be housed in the same chambers of a Brooklyn federal prison as disgraced former crypto executive Sam Bankman-Fried, three sources familiar with the matter told NBC New York.

Combs and SBF, as Fried is commonly known, are both being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

The sources describe the unit as a barracks-like unit that currently houses about 18 to 20 inmates. These inmates include well-known defendants like Combs, but also cooperating inmates who may need special protection.

Sources told NBC New York that although the area is separate from the general housing unit, it is a shared living space.

Combs was denied bail last week while he awaits trial on the federal charges. The music mogul has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty at his arraignment. He has been in custody in New York City since his arrest by federal agents on Sept. 16 at his Manhattan hotel.

“To Mr. Combs' credit, he has been consistently cooperative with this investigation and voluntarily relocated to New York last week to await these charges. Please reserve judgment until you know all the facts,” his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said in a statement at the time. “These are the actions of an innocent man who has nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”

A spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons said: “For privacy and security reasons, the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) does not provide information about prison conditions, including housing or internal security measures for individual incarcerated individuals.”

FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the securities fraud conspiracy that doomed his cryptocurrency exchange and a related hedge fund, Alameda Research.

Bankman-Fried, 32, was found guilty of fraud in November 2023 and sentenced to 25 years in prison by a judge in March 2024.

U.S. prosecutors accused Bankman-Fried and other top executives of plundering customer accounts at the FTX crypto exchange to make risky investments, make millions of dollars in illegal political donations, bribe Chinese officials and buy luxury properties in the Caribbean.
