Taco Bell launches a brand new hot sauce with musician Omar Apollo: Disha Hot

Taco Bell is presenting its fans with a brand new sauce. But the company is not alone.

On Monday, the fast-food giant announced the launch of Disha Hot, a sauce inspired by musician Omar Apollo's family's secret hot sauce recipe. According to Taco Bell, this unique sauce packet partnership “brings together spicy, smoky flavors and captures the flavors Omar's mother perfected in her original recipe,” which was so popular in their childhood home that Apollo and his siblings would order it for their birthday dinners and important occasions.

Taco Bell noted that it's the perfect complement to its curated Disha Hot Discovery Box, which includes three sauce packets as well as popular items from the Taco Bell menu. But true fans can also purchase the bottled sauce a la carte and put it on whatever they like.

“Partnering with Taco Bell is incredibly important to me because it allows me to honor my Mexican heritage and thank my mother's constant love and support by sharing her Disha Hot Sauce recipe with a larger audience,” Apollo shared with Food & Wine. “This collaboration fulfills a long-held dream to bring my family's legacy to life, and it resonates deeply with my personal values and artistic identity.”

But the duo didn't just stick with the sauce. To commemorate the collaboration, Taco Bell and Apollo also released a limited-edition Taco Bell x Disha Hot liquid-infused vinyl record from his latest album, “God Said No,” which will be available in limited quantities to Taco Bell Rewards members through the Taco Bell app starting September 24 at 2 p.m. PST.

Taylor Montgomery, Chief Marketing Officer of Taco Bell, explained how the collaboration came about, saying they met Apollo through the “Feed the Beat” program, which helps fans discover new artists and supports artists by providing them with $500 Taco Bell gift cards so they can buy some tasty snacks on the go.

“…Through our time together, we learned more about his past and present, including how much his family means to him and the sacrifices his parents made to help him pursue his passion,” Montgomery said. “One of Omar's personal goals was to make his family's secret hot sauce, Disha Hot, available to more people, and we knew we wanted to help make that a reality.”

Going into more detail about this sauce, Taco Bell shared that the ingredient list includes roasted tomatillos, white vinegar, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, lime juice, and a “family secret blend of spices,” which actually sounds like it would pair perfectly with the Disha Hot Discovery Box, which includes a Cheesy Gordita Crunch, a Doritos Locos Taco, a Crunchy Taco, chips and nacho cheese sauce, and a medium soft drink.

But again, if you want more sauce, you can get it for just .20 cents per package. The sauce will be available to Taco Bell Rewards members starting Tuesday, September 24, and will be available to everyone starting Thursday, September 26. But if you love it, you better stock up, because it's only available “while supplies last.”

“Taco Bell's support through the 'Feed the Beat' program and their commitment to authenticity and cultural rebels make this partnership seem like a natural fit,” Apollo added. “As a long-time Taco Bell fan, I'm thrilled to bring Disha Hot to their menu and keep our family recipe and legacy alive for both my fans and Taco Bell fans.”
