No charges filed after motorcycle accident in Jamestown where man is injured

JAMESTOWN, ND (Valley News Live) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says no charges will be filed in connection with the motorcycle crash that injured a Jamestown man.

On September 15, 63-year-old Monte Rodacker was riding his 2000 Honda Shadow in a 9/11 Tribute Run that started in Valley City. The Highway Patrol says Rodacker was in the middle of a group when several motorcycles passed him at high speed.

When they reached Rodacker, the same group that had overtaken him suddenly slammed on the brakes while attempting to negotiate a curve in the road. According to police, Rodacker had to slam on the brakes to avoid an accident. He was thrown from his bike and suffered six broken ribs, abrasions, a concussion and a fractured skull.

The Highway Patrol says his motorcycle eventually collided with a 2016 Harley-Davidson driven by 66-year-old Darwin Kurtz. Kurtz was uninjured and investigators say his behavior did not contribute to the crash in which Rodacker was involved.

The Highway Patrol would like to thank anyone who provided additional information regarding the accident. They say no charges will be filed in this incident. The driver of the trike has been identified and was found to be driving behind Rodacker at the time of the accident. The driver of the trike is no longer a suspect.
