Man from Mabank arrested in online child sexual abuse attack

HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) – A Mabank man is in jail after participating in an online operation targeting child sex predators.

According to an affidavit, the suspect, 63-year-old Terry Ellegood, posed as a 15-year-old boy on the Internet and sent sexually explicit messages to a trained Henderson County police officer.

The conversation allegedly lasted five days until Ellegood invited the officer to her home, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit states that Ellegood admitted to having the conversation with someone he thought was a child. Ellegood invited him with the intention that “if it came to sex, it would come to sex,” the affidavit states.

The Henderson County Sheriff's Office arrested Ellegood on Wednesday after obtaining a search and arrest warrant.

He is charged with online solicitation of minors and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.
