Lightning unveils interesting squad for duel with Hurricanes

The Tampa Bay Lightning will play their first preseason game of the year tonight (September 24) against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Lightning's roster for the matchup has now been announced, and there are a few notable players to keep an eye on.

Lightning signee Cam Atkinson is one of the top players to watch tonight. The 5'8″ winger is currently battling for a spot in the Lightning's top six, and a strong performance against the Hurricanes would help him do that.

Fellow new Lightning player Zemgus Girgensons will also play for the Lightning tonight. This will be Girgensons' first time playing in a preseason game for another NHL team, as he spent the first 10 years of his career with the Buffalo Sabres.

Lightning talent Gage Goncalves is another player to keep an eye on in this matchup. After an All-Star season with the Syracuse Crunch, the 23-year-old is currently battling for a spot on the Lightning's NHL roster. In 69 games with the Crunch last season, he scored 13 goals and 58 points.

Logan Brown, who was signed to the Lightning's professional tryout (PTO), will also be on the roster for this contest. After missing all of last season due to injury, this will be the 6'7 forward's first game in over a year. The 2016 first-round pick will be looking to make an impression as it increases his chances of signing a season-long contract with the Bolts.
