Ricky Stenhouse Sr.who was suspended by NASCAR after Kyle Busch Fight at the All-Star Race, has resumed, according to Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports. The father of Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. can now stay in the garage and pit on race weekends.

The fight began when Stenhouse Jr. threw a punch at Busch after the race at North Wilkesboro Speedway in May. That led to Stenhouse Sr. stepping in and throwing a punch at Busch as well. During his appearance at the Stacking pennies Podcast with Corey LaJoie Shortly after the incident, Stenhouse Jr. said his father “just liked to fight.”

“Dirtracer from home. I saw him and just wanted to make sure no one [pummel him] or each other,” he said. “And it looked like all the crew members were grabbing each other, including him. Just grabbing each other.”

In addition to Stenhouse Sr.'s suspension, his son was fined $75,000 and two crew members were suspended. “I think it's fair to say that when crew members and family members touch our drivers, we respond,” Elton Sawyer, NASCAR's senior vice president of competition, said at the time, according to NASCAR.com.

“I will not go into the details because these are contested sentences and I want to make sure we are fair in this process. That being said – and we have always been consistent about this – we will respond when crew members and family members are involved. And that is exactly what we have done.”

Sawyer added: “If you wait 198 laps and then make the decisions that were made, we will respond again. … Once we get to the point where it becomes physical, we want the two drivers to have time to air out their differences. Once it escalates to a physical altercation, we will respond.”

“Granted there was no tunnel, granted there was no overpass bridge (that Stenhouse Jr. could have used to exit the track), better decisions could have been made in the entire time period between the incident on the track and the incident in the garage after the race.”

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. did not make the playoffs this year because he did not win a race during the regular season and did not have enough points to make the top 16. On Saturday, Stenhouse finished 27th at Bristol Motor Speedway.
