Anna Delvey hid in the bathroom crying after the premiere of “Dancing with the Stars”

Ezra Sosa shows his support for his Dancing with the stars Partner Anna Delvey.

Sosa, who was promoted to professional dancer in the show's 33rd season, spoke about the negative reactions the convicted 33-year-old con artist has experienced since participating in the show.

“I just want to come here and talk about my first official show as a professional dancer. Dancing with the stars,” he shared on TikTok. “What is life? I can't believe this is happening to me.”

He called it the “best day ever” because he felt “so much love from literally every single person, including my partner.” However, he noted that Delvey did not feel the same support.

“I personally felt so much positivity,” he explained with tears in his eyes. “My partner, on the other hand, did not feel the same. I think the most difficult part of my day after that was [the] She was reading the comments and we couldn't find her. Finally they found her in the bathroom. She was crying. I've never seen her like that and it broke my heart.”

“As her partner, I wanted to give her the best experience possible and knowing that wasn't the case really broke my heart,” he added.

However, the professional dancer pointed out that he could not defend Delvey's criminal past.

Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, rose to notoriety for posing as a wealthy German heiress and using her social status to defraud wealthy people, banks and hotels. She was arrested in 2017 and convicted in 2019 of first-, second- and third-degree grand larceny and theft of services.

In May of this year, Delvey was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison (the sentence was reduced when she was released for good behavior in February 2021), fined $24,000, and ordered to pay approximately $199,000 in restitution to her victims. She paid her victims $320,000 in damages, which she received from Netflix for the rights to adapt her life story into a television series (later retitled). The invention of Anna and will be released in 2022), Insider reported.

Shortly after her release, Delvey was taken into custody by ICE for violating the terms of her visa. She has been living under house arrest in New York City ever since while she fights her deportation.

“I know what she did was really controversial and not right,” Sosa shared in his video. “I can never justify that to her and to anyone in her life. It's really hard for me because this person that I really fall in love with every day in rehearsals is not the person that everyone sees in the media.”

“Nobody deserves the hate she's getting right now,” he continued. “She deserves a second chance. She rose to the challenge and I can't wait for you to see how much she's improved. So tune in next Tuesday.” Dancing with the starsand see you there.”

Delvey made headlines when it was announced Good morning America on September 4 that she would compete for the mirror ball trophy alongside 12 other celebrity contestants. Speaking to PEOPLE shortly after the news broke, she revealed that she received special permission from ICE to compete on the condition that she continue to wear her ankle bracelet.

Beginning of the month Dancing with the stars Showrunner Conrad Green defended the series' decision to give Delvey the opportunity to appear.

“We've always tried to be a very broad church when it comes to the kind of people, the kind of backgrounds and the kind of stories we have on the show,” Green said diversity“Anna fascinates many people. Many people have seen the dramas about her life and followed her story. So I think she is naturally curious.”

He pointed out that the convicted con artist was well-versed in the “world of fashion,” adding that he was convinced fans would “really love” seeing her on the dance floor.
