Two burglary suspects arrested in Stratford

Stratford police expect to charge additional suspects for their roles in the incident.

STRATFORD, Connecticut — Officers have arrested two home burglary suspects in Stratford who are connected to similar incidents in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, Stratford police said.

Ryeim Robinson, 18, of Newark, New Jersey, and an unidentified minor are in police custody after both were involved in a home invasion in Stratford, the city's police department said.

On July 15, Stratford police responded to a home in the Lordship neighborhood for a report of a burglary. Police said they learned that several suspects entered an occupied home early in the morning and stole a vehicle and “other valuables.”

The suspects also removed license plates from other vehicles in the neighborhood, police said.

A police investigation involving state and local officials from Connecticut, New Jersey and New York identified Robinson as the prime suspect in the Lordship incident.

According to police, Robinson, along with other unnamed suspects, is also a suspect in similar incidents in Fairfield County, New York and New Jersey, where they stole an estimated $200,000 worth of vehicles and valuables since July.

On September 19, New Jersey State Police spotted Robinson with a gun in Irvington, New Jersey and arrested him after a chase.

Robinson is facing weapons charges and other charges in New Jersey. Police said the NJSP is holding him as a fugitive defendant pending extradition to Connecticut to face state charges.

On August 22, the New York Police Department arrested the minor involved in the Lordship incident while he was committing another home invasion in Brooklyn, NY, police said.

The minor is currently in Connecticut, where he is facing charges related to the Lordship burglary.

Stratford police expect to charge additional suspects for their roles in the incident in their city.
