Montana Senate candidate Tim Sheehy accused of plagiarism

A book by the Republican candidate for the US Senate in Montana apparently contains passages that were taken from external sources without citing the source. This is according to a an analysis by the Daily Montanan.

The newspaper reportedly ran Tim Sheehy's book, “Mudslingers: A True Story of Aerial Firefighting,” through software that scans text and compares it with previously published works. The analysis found that four passages appear to be plagiarized.

In a phone call, a spokesperson for the Sheehy campaign asked why MTPR reported on this story and did not comment on the Daily Montanan Report.

Sheehy is not the first Senate candidate in Montana to face plagiarism allegations. In 2014, former Democratic U.S. Senator John Walsh it was found that he had appropriated the work of others without citing the source for about a quarter of his master's thesis for the US Army College. He then dropped out of the race.
