Police ask public for help in searching for accident suspects

INDIANAPOLIS – A 21-year-old Indianapolis man faces felony charges after police say he left the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash.

Kasen Jackson died after the crash on Michigan Road on Saturday evening. In this latest arrest, the suspect was reported by a relative.

According to police, drivers who leave the scene of an accident face criminal prosecution rather than the lesser penalty that would have been imposed if they had remained at the scene of the accident.

Alexandra Leal's family is still hoping the person who hit and killed her will turn himself in. It's been nearly a week since the incident on South Lynhurst Drive. Metro Police said their condolences are with the families who lost their loved ones.

“Anything like a description of the color of the vehicle, what you saw, where you saw it, all of those things can help put together an investigation and find those responsible for the tragic accidents we've seen,” an IMPD spokesman said.

Police are asking the public for help in locating a silver Toyota Camry (model year 2002-2006) that struck Leal and disappeared from the scene of the accident.

According to Indy Pedestrian Safety Crisis, there have been 32 hit-and-run fatalities involving either pedestrians or bicyclists since January of this year, and 82 incidents in the last 30 days.
