Jacks strike back and beat Pine River-Backus in 5 sets

PINE RIVER – It was a close call for the Bemidji High School volleyball team.

After trailing 2-1, the Lumberjacks fought back to tie the game with a 25-16 win in the first set. BHS won the fifth set 15-9 to secure a 3-2 road win over Pine River-Backus.

PRB won the first set 25-20 before the Jacks won the second set 25-11. Pine River-Backus took a 2-1 lead with a 25-23 win in the third set.

Mollie Rupp topped PRB with 31 kills on 84 attempts. Aurora Frank also contributed 11. Margie Anderson (16), Jordan Pemberton (11) and Rupp (10) each had double-digit digs, while Anderson collected 40 assists. Anderson and Sammy Nistler combined for seven aces.
