SpaceX launches a series of Starlink satellites from California

Sept. 25 (UPI) – SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket loaded with another batch of Starlink internet communications satellites into space on Tuesday evening.

The launch took place at 9:01 p.m. PDT from the fog-shrouded Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

Elon Musk's company had announced on X, another Musk property, about half an hour before launch that the spacecraft was ready and the weather “looked good” for launch.

The goal of the launch was to put 20 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit, where they will join the company's ever-growing satellite constellation that aims to provide high-speed, low-latency internet around the world.

Among the devices were 13 with direct-to-cell capabilities, which Starlink says “enable ubiquitous access to texting, calling and browsing wherever you are.”

The first stage booster successfully returned to Earth on its tenth flight, landing on the drone ship “Of Course I Still Love You,” which had been waiting for its arrival in the Pacific Ocean.

The Starlink internet service is available in around 40 countries. On Tuesday it was announced that the service is now also ready for use in Burundi.
