Murder verdict postponed until February | News, Sports, Jobs

Shawnee Krall

The sentencing of Shawnee Krall for the murder of Alice Quierolo was postponed to its originally scheduled date after North Central District Court Judge Stacy Louser granted a motion by Krall's public defender, Stormy Vickers, to vacate the conviction.

The motion was discussed at a hearing on Monday, a week before the pre-sentencing hearing scheduled for Monday, September 30. Louser ordered the sentencing to be held on September 30 after Krall refused to participate in the pre-sentence hearing. Krall had asked several times before and after his sentencing to remove Vickers as his representative, but Louser had previously denied all requests.

Krall recently filed an appeal with the North Dakota Supreme Court, requesting a partial appeal of his conviction on the grounds that Vickers provided inadequate representation and failed to confront the testimony of a specific witness at trial.

Krall's sentencing is now scheduled to take place on the originally scheduled date, February 18.
