New York health consultant of Indian origin Dr. Jay Varma was fired for a drug-induced sex party

New York:

Dr. Jay Varma, New York City's former COVID-19 commissioner, was fired from his job at SIGA Technologies after it was revealed that he had participated in drug-related sex parties during the pandemic. Dr. Varma's COVID policies in New York garnered national attention when Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets was barred from playing for refusing to get vaccinated.

Dr. Varma, who previously served as chief health adviser under former Mayor Bill de Blasio, reportedly bragged about attending underground raves and hosting parties during the city's strict lockdown, confessions made public through secretly recorded conversations.

On September 23, SIGA Technologies issued a statement confirming Dr. Varma's immediate termination, saying, “In accordance with the terms of his employment agreement, Dr. Varma's service on the Board of Directors of the Company also automatically terminated with immediate effect.”

The scandal erupted last week when podcaster Steven Crowder released clips of Dr. Varma's candid conversations in which he said, “I was doing all this kinky, like, sexual stuff” and confessed to sneaking around because of his role in leading the city's COVID response.

In a recorded conversation, Dr. Varma recounted hosting a party in August 2020 where attendees used MDMA: “So we rented a hotel… we all took, you know, Molly and there were eight or nine of us, eight to ten in a room and everyone was having a blast because everyone was so agitated.”

Dr. Varma also recalled attending a rave party with hundreds of attendees in June 2021, and when asked if he regretted his actions, he replied, “No, actually that's who I am: I love being my authentic self.” A source revealed that Dr. Varma hosted another event in November 2020.

City Councillor Inna Vernikov condemned Dr Varma's actions, saying: “While grandmothers were breathing their last alone on cold hospital beds, Dr Varma was fulfilling his sick fantasies with hundreds of sweaty strangers.”

Michael Kane of Teachers for Choice said he was disgusted “when he heard Varma say he had to participate in drug-induced group sex orgies to be his 'authentic self' because Covid had 'botched' him.”

Despite the uproar, a source close to Dr Varma defended him, claiming that he had “technically not violated the mandate” and that his statements had been taken out of context.

Dr. Varma himself issued a statement acknowledging his actions: “In these private conversations, which were secretly recorded, edited, fragmented and taken out of context, I referred to events that took place four years ago. Between April 2020 and May 2021, I attended two private meetings. I take responsibility for not exercising my best judgment at the time.”
