Truck fire and accident at toll booth between I-476 and PA Turnpike – NBC10 Philadelphia

On Wednesday morning, a truck caught fire in the E-ZPass express lanes at the Mid-County Toll Plaza in Montgomery County, causing a traffic jam on the Blue Route.

The tractor-trailer caught fire around 3:40 a.m. in the passing lane where the northbound lanes of Interstate 476 meet the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

More than two hours later, the charred truck was still parked in the northbound express toll lane.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident, said the district's emergency managers.

Northbound traffic on I-476 was forced off Exit 20 for a time, but drivers were able to pass through the toll booth in at least two lanes just before 6 a.m., NBC10 First Alert Traffic reporter Matt DeLucia reported.

It is best to avoid the area if possible until the accident is resolved.
