Authorities have made an arrest in a nearly 40-year-old unsolved case in Tomah.

Yesterday, police officials from Monroe, Vernon and La Crosse counties announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the 1985 murder of a University of Wisconsin-La Crosse student.

Terry Dolowy's body was found decapitated and burned in February 1985 and the case remained unsolved until investigators recently found a DNA match with a suspect who still lived in Tomah.

Monroe County Sheriff's officials arrested 60-year-old Michael Popp, who was 21 at the time and worked as a truck driver.

While officials confirmed they have additional evidence besides DNA, they did not provide any details.

Popp is currently in custody with bail set at one million dollars.
