Braves have now lost half the game; Astros, Orioles and Padres win

The Braves won, which means the Mets lost. The Diamondbacks also lost. Here's how the National League wild-card race currently looks. The No. 5 Mets are half a game ahead of the No. 6 Diamondbacks. The Braves are just half a game behind the Diamondbacks and one game behind the Mets. So three teams for two playoff spots separated by one game.

Three more teams have officially booked their tickets for October baseball. The Astros won their fourth consecutive American League West title and are locked in third place. The Orioles also secured a spot in the AL and the Padres in the NL. The Guardians secured a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the ALDS. Eight of the twelve playoff teams have been decided, with four spots still to be filled by the end of the regular season on Sunday.

Other clinch scenarios:

*The Phillies can secure a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the NLDS with a win and a Brewers loss on Wednesday.

*The Dodgers can secure the NL West title as early as Thursday.

*The Mets can secure a place in the playoffs as early as Thursday.

*The Yankees can secure the AL East with a win on Wednesday.

*The Royals and Tigers can secure a place in the playoffs as early as Thursday.
