Arrest in connection with a chase | Local news

On September 23, at approximately 11:30 a.m., 18-year-old Xavieryon Samaj Harvey of Weldon turned himself in to Roanoke Rapids Police on outstanding warrants related to a September 17 police chase and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

According to a press release from Police Chief C. Shane Guyant, Harvey was not the driver of that vehicle, but admitted to stealing it in Northampton County. He was formally arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle, conspiracy and resisting a public official. He was given a $12,000 bond and a court date of September 26. Northampton authorities have been notified of the arrest and may obtain additional warrants for the actual theft of the seized motor vehicle.

“We are still seeking information regarding the identity of the driver of the vehicle that was near Harvey during the chase,” Chief Guyant said in the press release.

Anyone with information on the other person is asked to contact Halifax County Crime Stoppers at 252-583-4444, visit halifaxcountycrimestoppers.org or use the p3 app. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be paid for information.
