Margaret Qualley says Jack Antonoff lied to Adam Sandler about his movie role

Margaret Qualley owes her next role in Jack Antonoff Happy Gilmore 2!

At the performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Tuesday, 24 September, the substance The actress admitted that her husband lied to help her get her role in the upcoming sequel alongside Adam Sandler.

Qualley, 29, a self-professed “mega-fan” of Sandler, told host Jimmy Fallon: “I saw that there was a Happy Gilmore 2 and I immediately emailed my agent and said, 'Whatever it takes – I mean, the role is too small. Please. I have to be in it, I'm begging you. Please. Whatever it takes.'”

Fallon, 50, explained to the audience that Sandler, 58, then texted Antonoff, 40, asking if Qualley even played golf, referring to the sport played in the film. To which the music producer replied, “Yes, she's actually good!”

As Fallon read their text exchange on the show, she asked Antonoff another question she had asked Sandler: “Are we talking about Gilmore or a charity golf tournament?” To which the actor and comedian replied, “Funny, Gilmore, maybe you need to bug her for a few days. She'd be great.”

Qualley admitted that her husband “lied for the sake of the family” and told Fallon, “I've never played a day of golf in my life. I'm actually terrible.”

“So what did you do? How did you get through?” he asked.

“I went to the barn and hit a few balls with the woman who runs the barn – her partner used to play golf,” Qualley said, laughing. “That's where I started. … I took a few lessons, but overall I'm still bad.”

Despite the white lie, the actress said she has no regrets. “It was the best thing that ever happened to me,” she said about her performance Happy Gilmore 2.

The long-awaited sequel to the 1996 cult classic was officially confirmed by Netflix. In May, Sandler reprised his title role as a hockey player turned golf star. On September 9, Sandler posted a photo of a golf jersey on a rack during production of the film.

Qualley revealed on the show that Sandler was her “first crush” and Happy Gilmore is her “favorite film,” as she explained her love for the actor.

“I adore Adam Sandler. Like everyone else, I think he's the greatest of all time,” she said on the show. “I met him once on a red carpet and once at a party and… I probably scared him… I just told him I loved him and he was the greatest.”
