Justin Bieber wanted to “protect” Billie Eilish from the music industry: resurfaced video

Years-old statements by Justin Bieber that he wanted to “protect” Billie Eilish from the music industry have resurfaced in the wake of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ arrest for alleged sex trafficking and organized crime.

Bieber, 30, shared his feelings for Eilish in 2020 while speaking to Apple Music's Zane Lowe ahead of the release of his album “Changes.”

A tearful Bieber told Lowe about his own experiences in the music industry as a young artist. After finding overnight success at just 14 years old, the “Baby” singer signed with Combs' protégé Usher's record label in 2008.

“It was hard for me being so young and being in the industry and not knowing where to turn. Everyone told me they loved me and then turned their back on me the next second,” Bieber said.

“I just want to protect her,” the singer added about Eilish, who was only 18 at the time of Bieber's interview.

“I don't want her to go through what I went through. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.”

Like Bieber, Eilish shot into the stratosphere of superstardom at a young age. Her debut album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”, debuted at number one in the US and spawned several hit singles.

Speaking about his personal struggles in the public eye as he grew up, Bieber said it was “bad… dark” at times.

“Remember how young I was and how impressionable, and everyone was constantly telling me how great I was,” he explained.

“I just want people to understand the psychological reasons why I might be having problems in my life.”

The pop singer also confessed that he “lives in shame” and “all these things have to do with my past.”

Eilish hopes that he can be a “good role model” for her. “If she ever needs me, I'll be there for her. I'm just a phone call away.”

Although Bieber did not mention Combs by name in the interview, many on social media have drawn their own conclusions about what the singer might be alluding to, especially since a video showing a “creepy” exchange between Diddy and 15-year-old Bieber has recently gained renewed attention.

“He spends 48 hours with Diddy. Where we hang out and what we do, we can't really reveal,” Combs said in the video.

“But it’s definitely a 15-year-old’s dream.”

Billie Eilish thanked Bieber for his remarks by posting a clip of his interview on her Instagram along with a photo of herself wearing a Justin Bieber t-shirt. billieeilish/Instagram

“I got custody of him,” Combs continued. “He signed with Usher and I had legal guardianship of Usher when he recorded his first album.”

The music mogul added: “I do not have legal guardianship of him [Bieber] but he's going to be with me for the next 48 hours and we're going to go crazy.”

In another recently resurfaced video, Khloe Kardashian recalled running into Bieber at one of Combs' A-list parties in 2014 and saying that “half the guests were naked.”

The Post has contacted a spokesperson for Bieber.

In an open indictment against Diddy, federal prosecutors allege that the hip-hop star hosted “freak-off” parties where women were lured and forced to perform sexual acts with male sex workers.

The parties were allegedly recorded, giving Combs material he could use to blackmail and coerce his victims.

Combs was charged with sex trafficking, organized crime and transportation for the purpose of prostitution.

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is currently being held in a New York federal prison awaiting trial.
