Devin Bryden, Northampton, MA, murder suspect, in court Wednesday – NBC Boston

Authorities expect a “significant development” on Wednesday in a two-year-old murder case in Northampton, Massachusetts.

Devin R. Bryden, 24, of Northampton, is charged in connection with the stabbing murder of his roommate Jana M. Abromowitz in July 2022. Police were called to an apartment on Hatfield Street in Northampton after a friend found the 21-year-old woman dead from stab wounds.

Prosecutors said Bryden told police he “stabbed her to take her car away because he would soon be homeless.”

He pleaded not guilty and has been held without bail since his arrest.

Bryden is scheduled to appear in court at 2 p.m. Wednesday as there could be “a potentially significant development” in the case, according to the Norfolk District Attorney's Office.

A possible change of plea in the case had been scheduled for April, before Bryden's first appointed attorney was allowed to withdraw from the case.
