Fans, Travis Kelce's family, and people like Whoopi Goldberg have all stepped in to defend Taylor Swift against people blaming her for Travis' “out of shape” gameplay.

Taylor Swift's fans are giving her everything after comments resurfaced online claiming she was “to blame” for her boyfriend Travis Kelce's lackluster performance.

Travis had recently been criticized by pundits, especially during the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Atlanta Falcons.

His athleticism this year has been directly compared to previous years and for some reason fans of the game seem to speculate that Taylor is the reason for the apparent decline in his performance. (It obviously isn't!)

With the Eras Tour coming to an end in late 2024, Taylor has come under so much criticism that fans, family friends and celebrities alike have had to speak out in her defense.

Former ESPN Analyst Todd McShay spoke about Travis' performance on The Ryen Russillo Podcast, He said: “Every programme I watch, every programme before the game, at half-time, after the game, on weekdays, every programme I watch in the last few weeks, I ask myself: are we not allowed to say that he is out of form?”

“That he partied all offseason? He jetted around with probably the most famous person in the world,” the analyst mentioned on the podcast.

Fans immediately stepped in to defend Taylor and prevent this narrative from being included in the story.

On X/Twitter, a fan wrote: “I'd like to remind you that Taylor Swift distracted Travis Kelce on the way to winning the Superbowl last year. Get her name out of your mouth. We're 3-0.”

Several people also called the comments misogynistic. Another fan wrote, “I think the main issue for us is the pundits claiming he's distracted – which is a direct misogynistic jab at Taylor and couldn't be further from the way he's handled everything.”

Someone else added: “This talk about Travis being distracted is so damn misogynistic. He's been completely free time and time again, he can't throw himself the ball. Let's stop pretending he can't get the business together because he works harder than anyone and everyone on the Chiefs will tell you that and HAS.”

Even the legendary Whoopi Goldberg decided to add her two cents The view where she publicly rebuked fans for blaming Taylor, saying, “They seem to have forgotten that they won a Super Bowl last year with [Travis]And [he and Taylor] were just as close then as they are now… Grow up, guys. Stop putting this on her. Your team is fine, your team is fine. Shut up.”

Not only did they win the Super Bowl, but Travis played some of his best games with the support of his superstar girlfriend supporting him from the box, including 89 catches for 1,039 yards and five touchdowns.

Travis' mother Donna also defended the situation, telling People: “You know, I don't think they realize the pressure that people are under, whether they're athletes or professionals that are in front of the camera. And it's just very difficult, there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes.”

“You don't realize how many times people are trying to stop you from catching the ball or trying to trip you or hit you … so it's pretty tough when you have people breathing down your neck 24/7.”

Although Todd didn't explicitly blame Taylor in his chat, he did suggest that Travis' newfound superstar status, which came with his relationship with her, was partly the reason for his performance.

“I think Kelce does more commercials and stuff, he goes to more events and has more social activities,” he explained. “It's impossible to keep that schedule and still spend the same amount of time on football.”
