Man arrested at gunpoint after hitting two vehicles and a traffic pole with stolen car

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) – A Kinston man is facing a number of charges after he engaged a Greenville police officer in a chase on Tuesday.

Arrest warrants show Nathan Green was driving a car stolen on South Summit Street yesterday.

According to arrest warrants, after the owner called 911 and was found by Greenville police, Green ran and began a chase on North Eastern Street.

During the chase, Green is said to have driven recklessly despite having a suspended license and hit two other cars. Both were damaged, according to police. Officials say he was driving at least 24 km/h too fast.

According to records, Green ran two red lights before crashing into a traffic pole and running away.

The arrest warrants state that Green twice ignored orders at gunpoint before his arrest.

He is being held in the Pitt County Jail on $30,000 bail and is facing the following charges:

  • Serious crime: fleeing/escaping arrest with a motor vehicle
  • Aggravated theft of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of a stolen motor vehicle
  • Offense of reckless driving – willful disregard
  • Offense: Driving with a revoked license, not impaired
  • Two cases of hit-and-run with subsequent accident and property damage
  • Damage to property due to minor damage to property
  • Two cases of resisting an officer
  • Violation of traffic control systems
