Brownsboro ISD teacher allegedly injured elementary school student

CHANDLER, Texas (KLTV) – A Brownsboro ISD teacher is facing felony charges after a child was injured in class.

Kyle Lee Rocha, 39, of Chandler, is charged with assault on a child following his arrest Tuesday. An arrest document says the charge stems from an incident in which Rocha knocked over a 7-year-old student's desk during class.

According to the affidavit, the incident occurred on Sept. 13 in Rocha's behavior class at Chandler Elementary School. An investigator with the Henderson County Crimes Against Children Taskforce visited the campus on Friday to investigate the alleged incident.

During the visit, the investigator was shown a video of Rocha interacting with a 7-year-old boy in a class where three other boys were present. According to the document, the video showed the child rebelling against the demands of Rocha, who appeared to tell the boy to follow class rules.

The video then shows the boy leaning his desk back, causing Rocha to knock the desk backwards. The child then hits the back of his head and both elbows on the desk behind him, injuring himself before jumping up and crying, the document states.

After the investigator saw the video, he was sent pictures of the boy's injuries, including scars on his head and elbow, on Monday, the affidavit said. An arrest warrant for Rocha was signed the same day.

Rocha was booked into the Henderson County Jail on Tuesday. He was released later that day on $25,000 bail.
