Sumter couple arrested for multiple drug offenses

SUMTER, SC (WIS) – According to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office (SCSO), two people were arrested Monday on multiple drug charges.

According to SCSO, a patrol officer noticed a vehicle traveling south on Highway 15 bearing the license plate of another vehicle. Inside the car were 46-year-old Christopher Saxby and 36-year-old Candice Saxby.

During the traffic stop, the officer searched the car and found methamphetamine, fentanyl, and Schedule I and II narcotics.

Christopher Saxby was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to resell, possession of fentanyl, possession of schedule I and II narcotics, driving while license revoked, operating an unauthorized license and driving without insurance.

Candice Saxby was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, second-degree manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, and possession of schedule I and II narcotics.

The two were taken to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center, where they will remain while awaiting a bail hearing.
