Richard Osman says he is “impressed” by the cast of “Thursday Murder Club”

We are all rightly very excited about Richard Osman’s successful book, The Thursday Murder Clubwhich is set to be made into a film next year – and as it turns out, that also applies to Richard himself.

When Good housekeeping When I spoke to Richard recently, he talked about how excited he was to see what the film would be like and admitted that he wasn't too involved but enjoyed hanging out on set from time to time.

And who can blame him? Steven Spielberg produces, Harry PotterChris Columbus is the director, but the icing on the cake is the outstanding British cast – the best since Indeed… Love – who brought them together to bring the story of the gang from the Coopers Chase retirement home to life. Dame Helen Mirren has been cast as former spy Elizabeth, Celia Imrie is former nurse Joyce, Pierce Brosnan plays union official Ron and Sir Ben Kingsley is psychiatrist Ibrahim.

“I’m going down there [to the set] occasionally,” said Richard Good housekeeping. “I mean, I have nothing to do with it, so I'm as excited as anyone to see what it becomes and how it turns out. But the cast is wonderful, the director Chris Columbus is wonderful, and the producer Steven Spielberg is wonderful. So I feel like it's in good hands. But yeah, I go occasionally and just sit there and watch these actors in awe.”

He added: “I have no idea what will come out the other end, but I'm very, very excited to see it.”

The cast also includes Naomi Ackie, who will play police officer Donna de Freitas, Jonathan Pryce as Elizabeth's husband Stephen, and Richard's wife, actress Ingrid Oliver, who will take on the role of Joyce's daughter Joanna. The supporting cast is rounded out by David Tennant, Richard E. Grant, Tom Ellis, Daniel Mays, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Geoff Bell, Paul Freeman and Sarah Niles.
