Chaparral High School cordoned off, public asked to stay away

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Chaparral High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after an unspecified threat was made against the school.

Scottsdale police are asking the public to stay away from the school during the evacuation.

No injuries were reported.

According to police, an initial search of the school did not reveal any credible threat, but there remains a large police presence at the scene.

This is the latest of many recent investigations into threats against schools across Arizona. Police departments across the valley continue to emphasize the real problems and criminal consequences associated with making threats against a school.

A 14-year-old from Surprise was arrested Tuesday for making a threat against Valley Vista High School.

A 12-year-old from Buckeye was arrested Monday for threatening a teacher at Desert Sunset Elementary School.

On Sunday, Buckeye police announced the arrest of a 12-year-old girl involved in a threat investigation at a Milwaukee school.

A teenager was arrested Thursday for allegedly threatening a dozen schools in the Valley.

Mesa police also announced they were investigating six incidents at schools in the East Valley within seven days.

On Friday, Prescott Valley Police arrested a juvenile for allegedly threatening Liberty Traditional School.

Two more students were arrested across the valley as unfounded threats continued to plague departments

As local police continue to be inundated with unfounded threats against schools, two more arrests were announced on Tuesday.
