Taylor Swift's close celebrity friend told Adam Sandler a white lie – for a good cause.

Swift's longtime producer Jack Antonoff twisted the truth to get his wife Margaret Qualley a role in Sandler's new film. Happy Gilmore 2.

Qualley, 29, was a guest on Tuesday, September 24, episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and told the late-night host how she got her role in the film.

The Emmy-nominated actress is a big fan of the original Happy Gilmore a cult comedy from the 90s about Happy, a former hockey player turned golf champion (played by Sandler).

“It's my favorite movie. And I adore Adam Sandler. I think he's the greatest of all time,” Qualley enthused. maid The actress said that when she found out that Sandler was making a sequel, she immediately jumped at the chance to be part of it.

“I immediately emailed my agent and said, whatever it takes, no part is too small… I have to be a part of this,” Qualley said.

Fallon, 50, then pulled out a chain of texts between Antonoff, 40, and Sandler, 58.

“Jacko. This is Sandler. Does your wife even play golf?” Adult the star asked. “Yeah, she's actually good!” Antonoff replied – a white lie, as Qualley revealed. Sandler, for his part, seemed shocked as he replied, “No way.”

However, Antonoff needed more clarity and asked, “Are we talking about Gilmore or a charity golf tournament?” Sandler then clarified that for Gilmore and told the Bleachers singer that he had a role in mind for Qualley. “Could annoy her for a few days, funny. She'd be great,” Sandler wrote.

Qualley was thrilled by her husband's stroke of genius, who pretended she was good at golf. “What a good husband. I can't play golf,” said the Once upon a time in Hollywood Star admitted. “He lied for the sake of the family.”

She also admitted to Fallon that her golf experience was nothing like Antonoff had portrayed it to be. “I've never played a day of golf in my life. I'm actually terrible,” Qualley noted.

While Antonoff's little lie may not have been enough to land his wife a starring role, Qualley noted that she was grateful to be involved in the production at all.

“It was the best thing that ever happened to me,” she joked. “It's a tiny role. I'm basically a deep-rooted background, but I can die happy now!”

As fans know, Qualley isn't the only star Swift knows who has landed a role in the upcoming film. The pop star's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, also recently announced that he will also be starring in the film.
