Man arrested in human remains case in Bay City

BAY CITY, Mich. (WNEM) – A 40-year-old Bay City man was arrested in connection with the discovery of human remains at a boat ramp in Bay City on Wednesday, September 18.

The remains were found at the Edward Golson Boat Launch, 1600 N. Johnson St., and included two arms and two lower legs, including feet, the Bay City Department of Public Safety said.

The department has identified the victim as 41-year-old Justie Stilwell of Bay City.

Police said Stilwell was reported missing by his family on Wednesday, Sept. 18, and his vehicle was found by his family at a nearby park on Thursday. He was identified by his fingerprints.

On Wednesday, September 25, police announced an arrest in this case.

On September 25, at approximately 7:45 a.m., detectives from the Bay City Department of Public Safety and the Michigan State Police Emergency Services Team executed a related search warrant in the 100 block of Elm Street.

Following the search, the 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with Stilwell's murder. He was booked into the Bay County Jail.

Additional human remains believed to be Stilwell were found at another location in Bay City, police said.

The police do not believe there are any other suspects in this case.
