The suspect in the triple murder in Pawlet must appear in court again on Thursday

LAKE GEORGE, NY (WCAX) – The man suspected of killing three of his family members in Pawlet earlier this month is due back in court Thursday.

The hearing in Lake George, New York, will determine when Brian Crossman Jr., 22, of Granville, New York, will face a judge in Vermont.

Crossman Jr. was arrested in New York last week for the shooting deaths of his father, Brian Crossman Sr., 46, his stepmother, Erica Crossman, 41, and his stepbrother, Colin Taft, 13, all of Pawlet.

Crossman Jr. told Vermont police that he went for a walk on Sept. 15 and when he returned to his family's home in Pawlet, he found they had all been shot. Investigators say the house was covered in blood, gunshots and shell casings and that Crossman Jr.'s testimony is inconclusive.

Crossman Jr. is charged with aggravated murder, the most serious charge in the state, which carries a sentence of life in prison without parole.

If he waives extradition during Thursday's hearing, he could be in Vermont sooner or later. If not, it could be another month before his next hearing.
