1 person dies in overdose incident in Missoula

One person died of an overdose after Missoula police were called to three unconscious people in a vehicle on Sept. 19, according to Missoula Police spokeswoman Whitney Bennett.

“After further investigation and discussions with detectives, it has been determined that one person died from the suspected fentanyl overdose on the 19th of this month. The other two people have been released from the hospital and are not in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing,” Bennett said.

On Thursday, September 19, officers responded to a welfare check where three people were found unconscious in a vehicle.

Officers administered Narcan and deployed an AED. All three people were transported to a local hospital.

One of the men died after being taken to hospital, while another was in critical condition.

Following these overdose incidents in Missoula County, police launched a public awareness campaign.

“Fentanyl and other illegal substances pose a significant risk to public health and safety. It is important that everyone is aware of the potential dangers and takes precautions,” the Missoula police statement said.
