Why Savannah Chrisley is “afraid” of mother Julie’s re-sentencing

Originally published on E! Online

Savannah Chrisley holds her breath as she awaits the upcoming verdict for her mother Julie Chrisley.

Ahead of the September 25 court date, the 27-year-old reality star explained the potential consequences for her mother and admitted that she struggled with the judge's decision.

“God knows I'm so ready to have my mom home. The last few weeks have been hard, very hard,” she said in the September 24 episode Unlocked Podcast. “I'm not intentionally withholding information. I'm so scared right now about my mother's retrial on the 25th that I don't know what to do. And I don't want to jeopardize her freedom because of the things I say.”

The podcast host said she was particularly cautious about making statements about her mother's “whereabouts and treatment” before the verdict was announced.

“I have to be careful about the resentencing because the rest of our lives are in the hands of this federal judge,” she explained. “Anything I say can be used against me and my family, so I try to be very, very careful with my words.”

Noting that the amount of alleged bank fraud in her mother's case had been drastically reduced, Savannah explained that there were three possible outcomes for her mother's resentencing.

As Savannah explained about her mother, who was convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud in 2022, she could keep her original sentence of seven years.

“That could happen, and it feels like a punch in the stomach,” says Savannah, whose father Todd Chrisley is also serving a prison sentence, shared. “If you reduce the alleged fraud by 75 percent, I don't see how you can stick with the same sentence.”

Another possible outcome of the resentencing would be that the judge declares that Julie has served her sentence and sends her home.

“It’s a possibility,” Savannah revealed, adding, “I’m not getting my hopes up, that’s for sure.”

And the third possible outcome of the resentencing, Savannah added, is that Julie's sentence could be reduced – but she would still have to serve her prison sentence.

“We don't know what could happen,” she said. “I hope and pray with all my heart that this judge will send my mom home. I'm at a stage in my life right now where I just need my mom. Believe me, I need my dad too, I do, but I feel like you go through stages in life.”

Savannah, who has custody of her brother Grayson Chrisley18, and niece Chloe Chrisley11, added: “I'm going to keep fighting tooth and nail. I'm going to keep fighting to bring her home. I need her. Chloe needs her. Grayson needs her. My grandparents need her.” chase [Chrisley] needs them. We all need their home.”

In July, Savannah said her father, Todd, cried “tears of joy” when he learned that his wife’s seven-year prison sentence had recently been overturned.

And although Todd's 10-year sentence was upheld in his final appeal, Savannah said at the time, “The only thing he cares about right now is bringing her home.”
