Man accused of sexual assault, derogatory remarks

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A man is facing sexual assault and hate crime charges after officers with the Madison Police Department arrested him Tuesday.

According to the MPD report, a 911 caller reported a sexual assault and disturbance to police in the 1300 block of South Park Street shortly after 5:10 p.m.

Officers spoke with the caller, who told police that a man allegedly touched her inappropriately and then began calling her derogatory names when she tried to talk to him about the behavior.

MPD found that the man also yelled derogatory language at a community member who attempted to intervene.

The suspect is charged with fourth-degree sexual abuse, disturbing the peace and disturbing the peace with the participation of a hate crime promoter. Police took him to the Dane County Jail.
