Brownsboro ISD teacher arrested after allegedly injuring child

BROWNSBORO, Texas – Sheriff Botie Hillhouse confirmed that a Brownsboro ISD teacher was arrested after inflicting injuries on a 7-year-old student.

Hillhouse confirmed that Kyle Lee Rocha, 39, of Chandler, is charged with assault on a child following his arrest Tuesday. An affidavit for Rocha's arrest said video taken from the classroom shows Rocha responding to a misbehaving student by pushing a desk the student was sitting at backward, causing the student to fall.

The video then allegedly showed Rocha hitting the table behind him, hitting the back of his head and both elbows, injuring the student. The video then allegedly showed the student standing up, holding both elbows close to his body, screaming and crying.

Photos from Sept. 23 show injuries to the student, including redness on the back of his head with a bump protruding from the back of his skull, as well as two small red marks on his elbows that appear to be redness and bruising.

Rocha is currently being held in the Henderson County Jail on $25,000 bail.
