Teenager pleads guilty to murder of Nicolas Elizalde in 2022 – NBC10 Philadelphia

According to KYW Newsradio, one of the suspects allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Nicolas Elizalde pleaded guilty Wednesday morning.

Zyheid Jones, now 19, admitted to being one of the shooters who shot Elizalde in September 2022.

Police believe Elizalde was killed when several armed men jumped out of a parked SUV and began shooting at a group of high school football players following a practice game at Roxborough High School, where Elizalde played on the junior varsity football team. The incident occurred following a practice game at Roxborough High School, where Elizalde played on the junior varsity football team.

According to police, at least six people – five shooters and a getaway driver – were involved in the September 27, 2022, shooting.

Police believe Elizalde was merely an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire as the gunmen apparently targeted a specific group and fired a barrage of bullets behind the school. Four other teenagers were injured in the shooting.

In addition to the Roxborough shooting, Jones and another defendant were also charged with the murder of 19-year-old Tahmir Jones, who was shot and killed just one day earlier.

According to KYW, Jones also admitted to being one of the shooters who killed Tamir.

In January 2024, Jones, Yaaseen Bivins (21), Troy Fletcher (15), Saleem Miller (16) and Dayron Burney-Thorn (17) were charged as adults with murder, aggravated assault and related charges.

Jones is the first to plead guilty – prosecutors believe other defendants are considering the same, KYW reported.
